Today the Municipality of Rousse hosted the third consecutive race of the 2012 National Children’s Rowing Regatta, organized by the Bulgarian Rowing Federation and UBB AD. The event was opened by Mr. Ivan Donchev – chief expert of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. 65 pupils from 12 Rousse schools and Basarbovski Home for Children Deprived of Parental Care took part in the competition on rowing simulators (ergometers), which was held in Vazrazhdane Junior High School.

 

The National Children’s Rowing Regatta, initiated by the Bulgarian Rowing Federation and its general sponsor UBB AD, is held for a fourth consecutive year. The Y2012 regatta kickoff was on 11 May at the Rowing channel in Plovdiv. Following the races in Rousse contests are to be held in another two towns – Pleven and Sofia. UBB AD’s support for the National Children’s Rowing Regatta is a part of the Bank’s commitment to the development of this sport and the growing of the young sports talents in experience. This initiative also aims at provoking the children’s interest in sports and at encouraging those towards active physical exercise and helping them form a habit for a healthy lifestyle.

 

The winners in today’s race were personally awarded by Mrs. Miglena Markova - a member of the Board of Managers of Lokomotiv rowing club and world vice-champion on double scull together with Rumyana Neykova. Medals and prizes, provided by UBB AD were also presented by Mr. Ivaylo Ivanov – UBB Rousse Branch Manager and Ms. Svetlina Koleva – sports events manager for Rousse region.
