United Bulgarian Bank is Bank of the Year

United Bulgarian Bank has deserved the big Bank-of-the-Year prize in the 32nd edition of the Bank of the Year competition. The event, traditionally gathering representatives of the banking and financial sectors, politicians, university lecturers, public figures, and business leaders, was held on 04.07.2024 at Grand Hotel Millennium in Sofia city. The big prize was presented to the winner by Mr. Rumen Radev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria.

„This prize is a very special one for us. We do accept it as a recognition for everything we have achieved over the past year, during which we did the legal merger of UBB and KBC Bank Bulgaria and migrated more than 600 000 customers in a complicated integration process that is still ongoing. What we are mostly proud of is that we managed to add 1+1 and make it count more than 2. Our big achievement is that we have created one strong team out of two banks. A team, united by one common goal, one common vision and a common strategy. A team that has been working ever more efficiently together and has been achieving more and more impressive results.“, said Teodor Marinov, Chief Financial Officer at UBB, when receiving the prize on behalf of the Bank.

UBB has won two other awards at this most prestigious competition for banking sector achievements in Bulgaria. The Bank grabbed the winner’s statuette in the “Development Dynamics” category and the „Best Operational Digital Product“ prize for its All in One programme that has rendered UBB Mobile the only mobile banking app in Bulgaria, providing access to banking, insurance, pension and investment products.

„This is a huge recognition for our colleagues at the Bank, who along with the efforts they employ in the integration process, continue creating innovative products and expanding the range of digital services, offered by us to our more than 2 million customers- not only those of the bank, but also the customers of all KBC Group entities in Bulgaria, united in this unique bank-assurance model.“, shared Ms. Tatyana Ivanova, Executive Director Digitalization, Data and Operations at UBB and Innovation Leader of KBC Group for Bulgaria.

Apart from the big Bank-of-the-Year prize, the ranking distinguishes winners in three main categories – „Market Share“, „Efficiency“ and „Development Dynamics“. Additionally, a prize was also given to the best foreign bank’s branch. There is also a Bank-of-the-Clients prize, and awards for successful digital transformation and for the best operational digital product.

Over the recent years UBB has received the prestigious Bank-of-the-Year award for 2018, and prizes in the Development Dynamics category for 2018 and in Efficiency category for 2021 and 2022.
