The exhibition entitled Golden Thrace – Images of Deities, People and Animals, displayed at the pedestrian overpass near the National Palace of Culture, will be on view June 17-July 30, 2010. It features photographs by Mr. Nikolay Genov, selected by Prof. Valeria Fol, and is organized with the support of UBB. Ms. Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia, opened officially the exhibition and received 30 outdoor display stands as a donation from UBB.

 

The exhibition reveals an unusual perspective on the heritage, left to us by the ancient Thracians, who inhabited the Bulgarian territories prior to the formation of the First Bulgarian Kingdom at the Danube River. The photographs highlight the faces of gods and goddesses, rulers and their spouses, or fantasy animals, as modeled by the masters and painted by the artists.

 

This is the first exhibition of its kind as Permanent Open Air Gallery, located on the pedestrian overpass at the National Palace of Culture, realized owing to UBB’s support. The Bank has donated officially to Sofia Municipality 30 outdoor display stands sized 2.3 m x 1.8 m that will transform the place into a permanent outdoor gallery.
