Christof De Mil, Executive Director Finance and innovation leader of KBC Group in Bulgaria, was honoured in the prestigious competition “CFO of the Year 2019”. Mr. De Mil won in the “Transformation of the financial function” category due to the key role he played in the integration of UBB and Cibank, as well as the digital transformation and innovation policy of KBC Group.

“Today, the transformation and the digitalization are of utmost importance for the financial sector resilience. The financial function itself, however, is also undergoing thorough transformation. We use different technologies, skills and approaches, as compared to 10 years ago. I am proud to be part of a company which promotes these innovations in the framework of the financial function and that our solutions are valued by our peers in the finance community. That is why I deeply appreciate this award. This is not merely a personal prize, but rather an honour for the entire UBB team”, shared Christof De Mil.

Christof De Mil is among the few financial managers who combine this function of theirs with the innovation leadership. It is precisely this intersection point that gives KBC Group in Bulgaria the advantage to create good practices in the field of finance, based on digital business models.

The award was presented by Mrs. Milka Nacheva, partner in Ernst & Young, Bulgaria. The sixth edition of the CFO of the Year competition aims to honour successful financial leaders, promote the good practices and encourage the professional development of the financial community specialists. In 2015, Frank Jansen, predecessor of Mr. De Mil was honoured in the “Liquidity and Risk” category within the same competition.
