Today Bourgas hosted the second race of the 2012 National Children’s Rowing Regatta, organized by the Bulgarian Rowing Federation and UBB AD. 68 pupils from 4 Bourgas Schools (Lyben Karavelov Junior High School, Vasil Aprilov Junior High School, Social Educational and Vocational Training Center, the village of Bata and Bourgas Sports Club) went in for the competition on rowing simulators (ergometers) that took place at the main gate of Bourgas Sea Garden Park.

 

The National Children’s Rowing Regatta, initiated by the Bulgarian Rowing Federation and its general sponsor UBB AD, is being held for a fourth consecutive year. The 2012 regatta’s kickoff was on 11 May at the Rowing channel in Plovdiv. Following the race in Bourgas, contests are to be held in another 3 towns – Rousse, Pleven and Sofia. The support, rendered by UBB AD for the National Children’s Rowing Regata is part of the Bank’s commitment to the development of this sport and the growing of the young sports talents in experience. This initiative also aims at provoking the children’s interest in sports and at encouraging those towards active physical exercise and helping them form a habit for a healthy lifestyle.

 

The winners in today’s race in Bourgas were awarded in person by one of the legendary Bulgarian rowing athletes – Mr. Ivo Yanakiev, district coordinator of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and an Olympic rowing medalist. Medals and prizes, provided by UBB AD, were also presented by Mr. Angel Angelov – Manager of UBB Business Center Bourgas and Ms. Kina Todorova , UBB Bourgas Branch Manager.
