In May 2004, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Cyprus and Malta joined the European Union (EU). Leading ophthalmologists at the University Hospital "Alexandrovska" performed free eye examinations of more than 200 children under the age of 10 in the Municipal Library in Karlovo. The examinations are part of the University Hospital’s project "Do good - free eye examinations for children up to the age of 10". 12 394 Levs were raised to support the project within the fifth donation campaign of Raiffeisenbank "Choose to Help" 2013.
